oh shit. big thumbs up to Argentina.

Yeah, see, the unfortunate thing is, we’re not going to. We’re a selfish, corrupt nation that’s way too damn big for its own good or anyone else’s. We’ve got a mostly obsolete and inefficient government and a large citizen majority of people staunchly opposed to change of any kind, anything inconvenient to them even in the slightest, or anything they don’t fully understand. We’re a country of dirt-poor capitalists, members of a democracy in which their voice no longer makes a difference. 

So while I hate to leave this on a post so positive (way to go, Argentina!), the fact of the matter is that the way things are in America, and the way they are likely to continue being, more or less, unless something really big happens to change the collective mindset and get the nation off their asses and into the places you go to learn how to care, we are not going to accomplish anything like that. 

Welcome to America, the best country on Earth, where there’s more empty houses than homeless people on our streets, and they’re still homeless, where congressional votes go to the highest bidder, where the only people who ever get in positions of power don’t come from places without it and don’t give a damn, don’t even understand enough to try giving a damn about most people they’re supposed to serve, a place where one in two recent college graduates is unemployed, where you can’t get a job if you don’t go to school, but if you go to school you’ll never be able to pay it off. They tell you you’re happy while they tie you down and, without a warrant, strip search for any things that might make you different from normal, and they tell you they’re wrong. Spokespeople in designer clothes and designer bodies tell you you’re beautiful just the way you are as they sell you diet soda and magazines packed full of girls you’ll never look like, and when you stop eating to look the way they all told you that you had to be, they shame you for not seeing how beautiful you already where, or did you forget the words they hissed through their bleached smiling teeth and only see everything else?

Dystopia, noun. 

A dystopia is the idea of a society in a repressive and controlled state, often under the guise of being utopian.

God bless America, right?
